01. Make Your Bed

I know, this sounds so simple and like the silliest step that could impact your day but this quick step makes all the difference. Making your bed gives you an instant win at the very beginning of your day. Your bedroom looks more put together, keeps you from wanting to crawl back into bed and helps wake you up.

02. Let the Light In!

Open up your blinds and let light in as soon as you wake up. For those of you super early risers like myself this can be difficult so try using Soft White Light Bulbs or the Hatch Restore Sunrise Alarm which has customizable morning light options to make you feel like you’re waking up to the sunrise. I like to keep my alarm on with the sound of birds chirping so that in the early hours of the morning my room still feels like I’m getting up with the sun and nature.

These natural lights tell your brain it’s time to start the day and get your body’s internal clock operating to promote your mood and energy level.

03. Exercise & Stretching

Getting some light exercise in once you wake up is a great way to wake up your brain and muscles. Engaging in exercise early in the morning releases endorphins to your brain (hormones that allow you to feel pleasure) and reduces cortisol (your body’s stress hormone). This doesn’t have to be anything crazy. 15 minutes of yoga or stretching or a 30 minute light jog are enough to get your blood flowing and feeling more powerful, successful and ready to take on the day.

04. Journal & Positive Self-Talk

Grabbing your journal and taking a few minutes to set your intentions and practice gratitude allows you to start your day with hope and purpose. I personally love using The Five-Minute Journal. It’s quick, simple and effective and I always feel positive and prepared for a great day.

05. Envision the Perfect Day!

Take a look at your schedule for the day and imagine yourself completing everything. Envision yourself getting dressed & ready, enjoying your route to work, feeling successful throughout your workday, crushing it at the gym, enjoying yourself while you cook & eat dinner, spending time doing things you love, feeling relaxed as you prepare for sleep — everything until you rest your head again.

Now that you’ve seen yourself successfully go through your day, go do it!

As you can see, having a productive morning doesn’t have to overcomplicated. A few simple steps is all it takes. Try out these tips and see how your productivity improves each morning!
