Did you know we all get sensitive skin at some point in our lives? Pretty crazy, huh?! So how does this happen? It could be hereditary, it could be a gluten issue, an allergic reaction or even just environmental aggressors like the sun, smoke, wind, heat, and cold. When our skin is sensitive it can turn red, blotchy, and get itchy.
Okay, so what can you do about it? Couple things.
Unscented Is Your BFF
When using a face wash, you want to make sure it is unscented. That scent can just irritate your skin, you might as well spray perfume all over your face. My husband uses Cetaphil or Rodan + Fields Soothe wash. Here’s what I love about the Rodan + Fields wash:
It’s a gentle cream wash that dissolves light makeup. It cleans your skin without drying it out with a skin nurturing cream. It’s a wash that is soap and fragrance free that soothes, calms and nurtures your skin. The best part, it leaves your skin smooth and soft while it helps repair the lipid barrier. This will help your skin to tolerate other products on your face.
To use this wash, you will put it on your dry face. If you have drier skin you will simply wipe it off with a clean dry wash cloth. If you tend to have oilier skin, you will then just wash it off.
Sensitive Skin Treatment
Now that your face is clean, now let’s treat the sensitivity. I actually use this on my kids all the time! It’s great for sunburns, bug bites, and wind burns. This product has optical diffusers that immediately diminish any redness. It also has RFP3 peptide technology that neutralizes triggers and pacify irritable skin. With the peptide technology it also helps diminish any fine lines and wrinkles you may have.
This product is very runny. You want to use just a small amount and you can either spot treat the redness or you can use all over your face. After you wash your face, you can use this product. If you don’t have sensitive skin but do occasionally get blotchy, I would definitely add this to your skin care regimen.
Moisture Replenishment Cream
Guys! I love this one!!!! My daughter’s cheeks are always dry. Like surface dry. I put a bit of this on her cheeks and the dryness goes away. I’ve tried Aquafor, Vaseline, and coconut oil, and this hands down has worked the best! The Aquafor and Vaseline were so thick and sticky on her skin she would just scream. I liked the coconut oil, but this just worked better for her.
This does not include emulsifiers that can trigger sensitive skin, and has a patent-pending RF Cold Fission that uses moisture without traditional emulsifiers that can irritate skin. Over 98% of the formula is moisturizers that bind the water to the skin where the surface dryness is tackled by binding water to the skin. It also includes Chamomile to calm the fragile sensitive skin. I also love that this could be used as a night moisturizer and can also be used with other regimens if the Redefine PM Cream is too heavy for your skin or if you are suffering from breakouts.
Don’t Forget Your SPF
This guy is always in my Summer bag. I slather it on my kids faces, husband’s, and my face at the beach, at the pool, or any time we are all going to be in the sun. It’s lightweight enough my kids don’t scream at me when I put it on their faces, and it doesn’t feel thick and heavy on my skin when we will be in the sun. It is 100% mineral based sunscreen with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. This sunscreen deflects the suns rays to keep your skin’s surface cooler to reduce the appearance of facial redness. I love that it calms your skin with soothing licorice and protects the skins natural barrier. It has also been clinically proven to cut redness, irritation peeling and dryness. Seriously, I love this stuff!!! It’s perfect for the family!!!
When you are out in the sun, don’t always rely on your sunscreen. Make sure you wear a hat that can give you full coverage, or sit under an umbrella if you are going to be out in the sun all day.
