Did you know your skin changes with the Seasons? Spring is just around the corner, cooler temperatures, allergy season, and more days outside in the sun! During the Winter we were dealing with colder temperatures and much drier air, wrecking havoc on your skin. So, how can you start to get your skin ready for Spring?
Drink Plenty of Water
I can’t stress enough how important it is to drink water. Your skin is your largest organ. It needs water. It craves water. Water helps with digestion, circulation, and excretion. Without water, your largest organ won’t work properly. Imagine what happens to your plants with they aren’t watered. They get dry and brittle – just like your skin can. Your skin needs proper hydration.
You need to keep the dry flaky stuff off your skin. They dry skin flakes can clog your pores. Those flakes are covering your pores and suffocating them and keeping dirt locked into your pores. So, it’s very important to exfoliate at least 3 times a week during your night-time skin care routine. Plus, your house will be a little less dusty. Did you know that dust around your house is part skin? Ew. My favorite exfoliator is the Rodan and Fields Microdermabrasion Paste. My skin feels so soft after I use it.
As we move from Winter to Spring you may not need such a thick moisturizer. Slowly get your skin ready by alternating everyday from your Winter moisturizer that’s maybe a little thicker, to one that is a little lighter on your skin. The Rodan and Fields Soothe Moisture Replenishing Cream is great and so is the Redefine Overnight Restorative Cream. Both night creams are great for the Spring.
Purge Your Products
I find this is a great time to go through my bathroom and get rid of anything that has expired. Most products are only good for about a year so go through and make sure you toss what you don’t use or haven’t used, especially any sunscreens.
